Dr. Schellpfeffer is the inventor of the laparoscopic tissue retrieval forceps, "the Schellpfeffer Forceps." He patented the device as well as performed all of the pre-clinical and clinical testing that culminated in FDA approval.
Dr. Schellpfeffer is in the general practice of obstetrics and gynecology in Kenosha, WI. He has performed operative laparoscopy for more than 20 years having attended Dr. Kurt Semm's first operative pelviscopy meeting in the United States in 1986. He is also a long time member of the American Association of Operative Laparoscopists, and he obtained operative laparoscopy certification from the Accreditation Council of Gynecologic Endoscopy in 1996.
Dr. Schellpfeffer received his medical education at the Medical College of Wisconsin and subsequent residency training at the University of Florida. He returned to the Medical College of Wisconsin and received a Master's Degree in Anatomy in 2005. He continues to teach and do research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
